Former Hickory High star selected by Yankees
Former Hickory High baseball star Isaac Harrow was in Taylorsville late Wednesday afternoon, settled onto his bed and trying to grab a few minutes to relax.
A few feet away, he had a live telecast of the Major League Baseball Draft on his computer, with the volume turned high enough to hear his name.
Shortly after 4 p.m., the New York Yankees used the 735th pick of the draft to ask Harrow, a star at Appalachian State, to join them.
"As I heard my name, it sounded like it was someone else's," said Harrow, taken in the 24th round. "My sister and girlfriend were with me and I heard my mom yell from downstairs.
