Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Casey Kotchman homered and Yunel Escobar posted two hits, as the Atlanta Braves downed the New York Yankees, 3-1, in Grapefruit League action.
Greg Norton and Brandon Jones also homered for the Braves, who outhit the Yankees, 9-6. Starting pitcher Jair Jurrjens allowed one run on four hits with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings for Atlanta.
Mark Teixeira was one of six different Yankee hitters who combined for six total hits and Teixeira scored the lone run in the loss. Chien-Ming Wang started on the hill for the Yanks and allowed one run on three hits in three innings of work. Brett Tomko suffered the loss after he also surrendered one run on three hits in three frames.
